Thanking our local partners
Biogen Canada and NuGenesis Nails donate generously to the William Osler Foundation Mississauga.
Biogen Canada Inc., whose Canadian operation is based in the riding of Mississauga Centre, has donated $5,000 to the William Osler Health System Foundation’s Healthcare Heroes campaign to assist Osler personnel in the caring of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. NuGenesis Nails, a local nail salon with its head office in Vaughn, has also donated $5,000 to assist in such medical care.
On May 15th, 2020, Allan and Anna Kalinsky confirmed the contribution of $5,000 moreover to this very campaign, with both donations going directly to the William Osler Foundation. MPP Kusendova, who is currently serving as a nurse at the William Osler Foundation Etobicoke location, had the opportunity to receive the cheque on behalf of the Foundation.
“We are pleased to support Canadian healthcare workers in any way that we can during this challenging time in our history. Like all Canadians, we are grateful for the commitment and sacrifices made by frontline healthcare workers and are happy to have the opportunity to contribute to the William Osler Healthcare Heroes campaign.” said Marina Vasiliou, Vice President and Managing Director of Biogen Canada. “Thank you to everyone on the frontline and to the William Osler Health System, who opened Ontario’s first COVID-19 Assessment Center.”
"The community has given back to us, and we would like to donate back to them during these difficult times, all of us need to stay safe during COVID-19” said Mr. Kalinsky.
"On behalf of William Osler Foundation, I want to thank you this donation and sticking together as a community during these challenging times. This generous donation will truly go a long way for the Hospital” said MPP Kusendova.
Throughout these times, MPP Kusendova has been amazed with the amount of local businesses coming forward with donations and other charitable contributions in the fight against COVID-19 and its detrimental impact on our community.
As MPP Kusendova works in the frontlines, she emphasises how donations such as these from Biogen Canada and NuGenesis Nails will directly support frontline healthcare workers and, thus, help to keep our community safer through these unprecedented times.
It is so heartwarming to see the support that has been given to front line workers. She applauds the companies that have come forward to help different organizations, hospitals, and long-term care homes; it is a true act of solidarity.
“Businesses are doing an incredible job stepping up in the fight against COVID-19. Thank you to Biogen and NuGenesis Nails for this generous contribution to the William Osler Health System Foundation to help support our front line heroes like MPP Kusendova" Said Minister Sarkaria
MPP Kusendova would like to thank both Biogen Canada and NuGenesis Nails once more for their donation in the spirit of #GivingTuesdayNow and the global effort to turn to community stakeholders to make meaningful social change. In light of COVID19, donations to institutions such as the William Osler Foundation become even more important, as such donations improve the ability to provide quality care in conjunction with appropriate precautions. This ensures that both the health and safety of staff and patients alike remains secure.
Thank you, moreover, to all other community stakeholders who have made a difference to their favourite causes in the spirit of #GivingTuesdayNow — it is people such as you who are push forward meaningful changes in your communities.
